Systems Engineer
Novi, Michigan | Full-time, in-person
The role
We're looking for a Systems Engineer to own the integration of our platforms end to end — airframe, flight controller, payload, and comms all working together as one system, not a pile of parts. You'll bridge hardware and software, validating that what we build actually performs the way it's supposed to before it ever leaves the shop.
What you will do
Integrate airframe, flight controller, payload, and comms systems into complete platforms. Configure and tune flight controllers, including log-driven tuning on PX4 and ArduPilot. Work across hardware and software, from wiring and power systems to embedded compute and mission software. Define and run system-level test plans, from bench tests through full flight validation. Diagnose issues across the stack using flight logs, telemetry, and hardware inspection rather than guesswork. Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to close the loop between design and real-world performance. Support field testing and demonstrations when a system needs eyes-on validation outside the shop.
What you bring
Strong systems-level thinking — comfort tracing a problem across hardware, firmware, and software rather than staying in one lane. Experience with UAV platforms and flight controllers, ideally PX4 or ArduPilot. Programming ability in Python and/or C++ applied to real hardware. Comfort with flight logs and telemetry as your primary troubleshooting tool. Hands-on experience with embedded systems, sensors, or avionics integration. Ability to move fast between prototyping, testing, and iteration.
Nice to have
Experience with mesh networking, swarm coordination, or TAK/CoT integration. Background in electrical engineering or PCB-level hardware, including KiCad. Familiarity with GPS-denied navigation, sensor fusion, or computer vision. FAA Part 107 certificate, or willingness to obtain one. Experience working alongside military units or defense customers.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is discussed during the interview process and tailored to experience. Additional benefits included.
